You can buy a brand new BMW X3 4×4 for only £4,500 – but there’s a big catch

DRIVERS have been left blown away after discovering they can buy a brand new BMW X3 for only £4,500 – but there’s a catch.

BMW is one of the most respected brands in the world, producing cars that blend power and performance with a luxury, premium feel – although the downside is that buyers need to have very deep pockets to own one.

A genuine BMW X3 normally starts at around £47,000  and can cost more than £90,000 if you go for a sporty top-spec M model.

So how is it possible that this incredible car can be advertised for only £4,500? There are a few catches.

The most evident one is that this car wasn’t manufactured by the German firm BMW.

It was actually made by a Chinese company called Dongfeng Motor Corporation in Guangdong – and it’s on sale at Alibaba.com.

This Chinese copy painfully attempts to imitate the BMW’s characteristics, but it’s mainly just a muddle of parts.

It’s powered by a smaller motor and battery – giving a top speed of around 30mph.

The advert states that the car’s maximum range is 62 miles, while it has space for only four people.

Sadly, when the “BMW” is delivered to your house in the UK, you won’t be able to register it and drive it on public roads.

Also, shipping it from China to the UK will cost you a whopping £1,400.

But it’s not the only Chinese copy you can find on this website.

Drivers can buy a new electric “Jeep” SUV for just £3,000 – but there’s also a catch.

And they can also find a “MINI” for just £3,500, but it has a top speed of just 37mph.
