The wrestling legend’s weight was “creeping up” in 2019 shortly after he left WWE for Tony Khan’s rival promotion.

The ROH World Champion went for a check up and shockingly realised he was too overweight.

The seven-time world champion had no other option but to lose weight especially after a health scare in England while on tour with his band Fozzy last year.

The inaugural AEW World Champion suffered breathing problems on stage due to pulmonary embolism, which saw him getting blood clots in his lungs.

The Canadian grappler returned to the US and was told he needed to lose weight as his body fat was at 21 per cent.

The 51-year-old then reached arguably the greatest shape of his life as he got shredded, thanks to a diet consisted of oats for breakfast and small snacks as well as main meals with 8oz of protein and salad.

But not everyone was convinced of the authenticity behind his body transformation.

Jericho told GQ: “When AEW started in 2019, I was still in that mindset [of getting bigger].

“I didn’t even realise that I was creeping up. I went to the doctor towards the end of 2019, and it was the first time I’d been on a scale for a while.

“It said I was 240 [pounds]. I was like, ‘240? That can’t be right!’ I remember saying to the guy, ‘Do I look like I’m 240?’ And the guy’s like, [awkward shrug] ‘I don’t know.’

“That was the first time I had to realise, ‘Holy s**t, I’m 240 pounds. That’s big.’

“I started on January 10, and I wanted to lose 10 pounds over six weeks. Well, on this diet, I lost 11 pounds in the first week. So I said, ‘Well, this isn’t super hard. Let me stay on it for a while’.

“Eight weeks later, I was down to 210 pounds. I lost 31 pounds in eight weeks.”

Jericho added: “When I lost all the weight, there was no, like, ‘Oh wow, Jericho’s not fat.’ It was like, ‘Oh, he went and got ab implants! That’s what he did!’”
