She said: “Let me show you how to sleep at the airport because I’m about to do it myself.
“Ideally I would have gone through security already but that just wasn’t possible due to the timing.
“So this is our second best scenario.”
First of all, she emphasised the importance of making sure you have the right outfit to stay warm and comfortable during your layover.
Layers are the name of the game here and Sabina also admitted that she took the blanket she was provided on her previous flight so that she could make use of it overnight.
While she did feel slightly bad, her guilt was soothed by the fact that it was “the airline’s fault” that she faced such a long wait to begin with.
Secondly, she urged passengers to make sure they went to sleep near other people as there is “safety in numbers”.
This both protects you from potential thieves and also reduces the risk that your oversleep and miss your boarding call the next day.
Likewise, you should secure your luggage to make sure that nobody can just walk off with it while you get your forty winks.
Sabina came up with an “improvised solution” by looping an earphone cord through the handles of all of her bags and then tying it around her wrist.
This neat trick meant that none of her things could be easily moved without waking her.
Finally, she explained the best position to sleep in on airport lounge seats, especially those with armrests.
It might not be glamorous, but sleeping face down wrapped in a blanket will keep you warm and just about comfy for those long gaps between departures.
Social media commenters loved the helpful tips.
