Winner of world’s richest race will earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk at £70,000 per SECOND

THE winner of the world’s richest horse race will earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk – pocketing over £70,000 per SECOND.

Frankie Dettori – who recently suggested he could delay his retirement – is second favourite with the bookies to lift the £16.7million Saudi Cup.

Victory in the 1m1f race is worth a whopping £8.2m. Not bad for under two minutes work.

Research by MyBettingSites has found the victor will earn more than £7m per minute or a colossal £74,545 per second.

That would put them ahead of some of the world’s richest people over the same time span.

For comparison, Ronaldo on his mega-money Al-Nassr contract earns £3,336 in one minute and £5.60 per second playing in Saudi.

Tesla boss Musk, who battles for title of world’s richest man with fashion titan Bernard Arnault, makes £30,000 per minute – £500 per second.

Tom Brady was one of the highest paid players in the NFL last year, earning £69.3m which is equivalent to £132 per minute and £2.20 a second, way less than the Saudi Cup winner.

Actor Tom Cruise earned a reported £83m in 2023 which, when broken down, is again less than the winning Saudi Cup horse.

Cruise’s salary is equivalent to £1,597 a minute or £2.63 a second.

Even social media queen Kim K can’t compete with the financial might of the Saudi Cup either, earning £104 per minute and £1.76 per second, according to MyBettingSites.

The winning jockey can expect to keep around ten per cent of the winner’s cheque, meaning they will walk off with close to a million quid for the victorious ride.

Irish jockey David Egan won the Saudi Cup, which will be run on Saturday, aboard Mishriff in 2021.

But he was fined a whopping £71,000 after breaking whip rules.

The Bob Baffert-trained Taiba Road, who will be ridden by ‘Money’ Mike Smith, is the current 15-8 fav.

Baffert also trains Country Grammer, the mount of Dettori who is 7-2 second-fav.

England’s Ryan Moore will ride Japanese challenger Jun Light Bolt, who has already earned £1.5m in just nine races.

The Saudi Cup will be run at 5.35pm and shown live on Racing TV.
