Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz sends Arsenal fans wild with prime Bergkamp shirt despite being THREE when legend left

LABELLING Carlos Alcaraz a top 10 player might normally be damning the Wimbledon champion with faint praise.

But it’s a whole new ball game when the world No2 is captured playing FOOTIE in the famous shirt and number of Arsenal icon Dennis Bergkamp.

The two-time Grand Slam winner delighted nostalgic Gunners’ fans as he took part in a practice match on artificial grass.

Yet Alcaraz, 20, was only three when Bergkamp’s 11 glorious years with Arsenal ended.

The Holland striker departed his only English club in 2006 with three Premier League titles and four FA Cup triumphs.

Alcaraz is not quite a lookalike nor a play-alike, but he looked foot-faultless in a video of him in action on a full-size football pitch

And the clip of his knockabout with fellow Spanish court star Pablo Carreno, as well as many others, was called “legendary” on social media.

In fact, as the two tennis aces ran to congratulate a scorer, one fan came up with an incredible sporting dream.

He posted: “Imagine scoring a goal and having a double Grand Slam champion and former world number 1 (Carlos Alcaraz) and an Olympic medallist (Pablo Carreno) come to celebrate with you.”

Most Gunners’ supporters, however, went misty-eyed over the past rather than any such future wish.

One said of Alcaraz’s replica Bergie top: “My first Arsenal shirt this one.”

Another wrote: “Looking fabulous Carlos, another reason to love you.”

A third said: “This is class. I need this shirt asap.”

And a fourth added: “Already liked him – he now has my full support.”

One enthusiast blended his sports in praising Alcaraz as he claimed: “He knows ball. A good kid.”

Perhaps it just proves he can serve up a winner with his kit as much as his racket.
