Wilko stores news — Discount retailer to RETURN to high street after deal with The Range – find your nearest shop

WILKO stores are set to return to British high streets, just weeks after the chain shut its doors across the country.

The owner of the Range, who purchased Wilko’s website after the brand collapsed, is set to open two stores in Plymouth and Exeter.

This comes after the budget retailer collapsed in August, leading all of its 408 stores to close in a blow to shoppers everywhere.

CDS Superstores, which owns the Range, has now confirmed previous Wilko employees will be given priority during the hiring process for these new shops as they look to open five branches before Christmas.

CDS chief executive Alex Simpkin said: “The public reaction to the loss of Wilko stores was undeniable. That’s why we’ve taken the decision to reintroduce Wilko back to many of the High Streets and communities that it used to so proudly serve.”
