Why you should never wear wide leg trousers for your flight

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed why passengers should avoid wearing certain trousers whenever they get on a plane.

There’s plenty of clothing rules that people should follow when flying, including no flip flops or shorts and keeping socks on at all times.

However, one cabin crew member has now brought another item of clothing up for debate, saying passengers should never wear wide-legged trousers.

This, as with most of the plane clothing rules, is for hygiene reasons, with the floors on planes and in airports among the most disgusting.

The advice comes from flight attendant Kerstin, who said passengers should avoid clothes that drag along the ground.

In an article for Mama Mia, she said: “Wear pants/trousers with an elasticated or close-fitted hem.

“You don’t want anything touching the floor of the toilet (or the floor anywhere, for that matter).”

Plane floors seem to be particularly gruesome, with other attendants making similar recommendations, to avoid touching it at all costs.

Sun Online Travel’s resident flight attendant explained: “Please don’t let your children crawl around on the floor. It’s disgusting.

“Airlines don’t get to clean the floor properly all that often and, I know it’s good to expose your kids to some germs, but not that much.

“I wouldn’t advise passengers to walk around barefoot, or even with just their socks on, when flying.

“So the thought of your kid putting their hands on that floor and then inevitably shoving their fingers in their mouth, really turns my stomach.”

The plane toilet also seems to be an especially bad place for germs, with our flight attendant insisting that people should wear more than just socks or sandals when visiting the loo during a flight.

They added: “Wear more than just a pair of socks or flip flops in the bathroom – that’s definitely not just water on the floor.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve had to say this, but it never seems to get through.

“On every single flight, there’ll be at least one person just brazenly walking into the bathroom with their feet out, stepping in everyone else’s “business”. It makes me shudder every time I see it.”

Wearing flip flops could also be dangerous during an emergency, as they increase the chances of you having an accident.

CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo’s said: “Please wear sensible shoes and leave them on until after take-off.

“I see people boarding with flip flops and I think if you have to get up and run and you fall down or you can’t run, you’re not only going to hurt yourself, you’re going to hurt dozens of other people on this plane.”

Meanwhile, this is the reason why Crocs could be a bad idea on a plane.

And here is everything you should wear to the airport.
