Why does my Spotify keep pausing?
There are various reasons why your Spotify music keeps pausing.
The most obvious one is that there was an issue when the app was first installed.
So you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling it.
Another common reason could be that someone else is listening on your account for a different device.
Remember, you can only use Spotify on one device at a time.
So if you have your Spotify set up on your Alexa speaker at home for example, it could be that someone is trying to blast out some tunes of their own and you’re both unknowingly in an account tug of war.
It could also be that you forgot to log out when you used it on another device, and now people are using your account – in which case, you might need to reset the password to chunk them off.
If your account was created through Facebook, then you will need to log out of your Facebook account on all devices and change its password too.
If you have the device near or know who’s playing music on it, then you can simply just log out of it or ask them politely to do so.
Another reason for Spotify woes is if your signal is poor.
The same can happen if you’re on ropey public Wi-Fi too.
How can I prevent my Spotify from pausing
You can prevent your Spotify music from randomly pausing – though it depends on what is causing it.
Make sure no one else has access to your account to rule out some of the potential issues.
If you ever find yourself with a bad connection – whether that be from your mobile data or weak public Wi-Fi – you can lower the Music Quality so it’s less demanding.
If you’re listening to music through a desktop, then just click Settings from the arrow in the top-right corner and under Music Quality select preferred settings.
Then choose the audio quality setting from the table in Music Quality details.
If you’re listening to music through your iPhone or Android device, tap Home and then the settings cog icon in the top right.
Tap Audio Quality and choose a lower setting.
If you’re having data issues, try disabling data saver mode too because this might limit the amount of data that Spotify can use and cause it to pause.
Train and plane passengers should try to download music offline at home via Wi-Fi before setting off to avoid the vast majority of connection issues.
