Ain’t That A Shame has a very interesting profile for a National runner.

He is relatively lightly raced with just seven chase runs.

And he has never gone beyond three miles – the National will be run over 4m2½f.

The race will be off at 5.15pm.

What the bookies say

On the 50th anniversary of the legendary Red Rum’s first victory in the race, the enduring popularity of the Grand National will once again see millions of people across the UK place their annual flutter on the Aintree highlight this weekend, with bookmaker Coral estimating there will be up to £150 million bet by the time the 40 runners line up at the start at 5.15pm on Saturday.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “There is simply no other day like Grand National day in the British sporting calendar, not only does it attract by far the biggest TV audience of the year for a horserace, but millions of people will enjoy having their traditional once a year flutter, leading to total turnover on the race of £150 million.

“Blackmore made history when becoming the first female jockey to win the race two years ago and could have another big chance on Ain’t That A Shame, with her mount already backed into favouritism.

“Football manager and I’m A Celeb winner Harry Redknapp co-owns Back On The Lash, whose odds have already halved from 50-1 to 25-1, while on the 50th anniversary of Red Rum’s first victory, Ginger McCain’s son Donald will be looking to add to the family’s record in the race when he saddles Minella Trump,” concluded Stevens.”
