When is Christmas Jumper Day 2022?

Christmas Jumper Day 2022 takes place on December 8, with the money raised going to Save the Children.

It’s a great way to add a splash of colour to the workplace – or even some sparkle to your home office.

This year the event is even more special because for every £2 donated the UK Government promised to donate it too, helping the charity earn double the funds.

Funds will be used to help mums or mums-to-be and children of any age in Kenya with food and medicine, with the project kicking off in 2023.

The foundation said: “When you donate to Christmas Jumper Day between 1st December and 1st March, your donation will be doubled by the UK government.

“100% of match funding from the UK government will go directly towards supporting our project in Kenya, which will increase the quality and availability of essential maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition services in Mandera and Turkana counties, Kenya.

“Public donations raised through Christmas Jumper Day will go towards supporting Save the Children’s vital work in the UK and around the world, enabling us to make lasting change for the children who need it most.”

The event is open to people globally and helps raise funds for children in the UK and other countries in need.

Christmas Jumper Day took place for the first time in 2012 and every year the charity raises millions of funds.

How does Christmas Jumper Day work?

All you have to do is wear a Christmas jumper on the day – it really is that simple.

You don’t have to wear a new one either as it’s okay to dig out that one from last year from the bottom of your cupboard.

The charity said: “You don’t even need a new jumper.”

“You can dig out last year’s, or take a boring old sweater and add some tinsel, or get one from a charity shop.”

People are encouraged to donate £2 to Save the Children, or £1 if you’re at school.

The charity also suggests wearing your festive jumper while out running or cycling or even wearing your jumper for the first 10 days of December.

It also suggests having a bit of fun by seeing how many Christmas jumpers you can put on in 30 seconds.
