Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer flew to PORTUGAL to view iconic car but ditched it after deciding ‘it’s just not right’

MIKE Brewer flew to Portugal to check out an iconic car – but ditched it after deciding it was just “not right”.

But the disappointed Wheeler Dealers host still managed to make sure the trip was worthwhile when spotting a different car for sale.

Brewer and co-host Marc Priestley revealed the swap while filming a new episode of their popular motors show.

The car – an iconic Peugeot 405 Mi-16 – was saved by the motor-adoring pair in May last year, reports the Express.

Speaking to the publication, Marc Priestley, said: “Of course, like anything else, we often just see a car by the side of the road with a big for sale sticker on it.

“We’ve actually gone to look at one car and ended up buying something completely different.

“But there was another car that ended up being like a real star of one of these episodes.

“Like anyone out there it’s not all just pre-planned and thought out in advance. Sometimes you think on the fly, you see something and it just works.”

But the four-wheeler didn’t come without its own issues, after the team noticed a damaged bumper, starter motor and a potential head gasket problem.

Luckily each problem was quickly fixed – which included a £70 built-from-scratch new headlamp.

The team then had to get a Portuguese MOT sorted so they could hit the road in the classic four-wheeled find.

The car was put up for auction – with a promise to ship it to the UK for the potential buyer.

Marc, added: “I actually think the best shows are ones that are a bit like that, less produced in advance.”

The savvy motor experts are not short of tips when it comes to how Brits should spend their dosh when looking for a new motor.

Recently, Brewer offered a run-down of the cars he would recommend if he was asked, including an Audi that he said he sold “quite a few” of.

As well as that, he also gave some advice on cars that he thinks will become “future classics” – urging drivers to “seriously” think about dropping some cash for one of them.

But like anyone, the motorhead can face problems outside of which car is the best-to-buy – and was recently hacked by “scumbags”

The hackers targeted his Facebook account – which had one million followers – and posted “foul” images on its story function.
