WhatsApp button that saves you from embarrassment is finally coming to Facebook

FACEBOOK is finally introducing a beloved feature that’s been on WhatsApp for months now.

The social network’s Messenger app is finally catching up with a five useful tools.

And top of the list is message editing.

Much like WhatsApp – which is also owned by Mark Zuckerberg‘s Meta tech giant – you’ll have 15 minutes after sending to change any embarrassing errors.

The company says users will still be able to report abuse in an edited message and that it can see the previous versions if needed.

Facebook has also made some changes to disappearing messages, enabling it to now last for 24 hours after being sent.

Another WhatsApp feature to be copied across is read receipt controls.

You can block people from seeing if you’ve read their message yet or not, so you don’t feel pressured into replying immediately.

And for those who love to share photos and videos via Facebook Messenger, the quality has been stepped up.

“We’re going to continue rolling out improvements over the coming months — we’re currently testing HD media and file sharing improvements with a small group of users and plan to scale them in the coming months,” Meta said.

And just like WhatsApp voice notes, the ones you send on Messenger finally allow you to control the speed, at 1.5x and 2x.

The new features are due to start rolling out from today.

It comes as Meta also announced that it would finally make all communications on Messenger end-to-end encrypted by default in a bid to boost privacy – but campaigners fear the change could make the platform a safe-haven for criminals.
