History was made at the weekend with the start of ONE Friday Fights at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
With a night of Muay Thai and MMA action, the capacity crowd was treated to an array of blistering bouts – he’s what we took away from the night.
Fight of the Year?
What a way to kick things off on ONE Friday Fights with a bout that will take some topping in the yearly reviews.
Seksan Or. Kwanmuang and Tyson Harrison put on an instant Muay Thai classic at a 140lbs catchweight. Back and forth doesn’t do this one justice, with both men going toe-to-toe for the full nine minutes and putting on a show those watching won’t forget in a hurry.
Seksan might have got the nod via split decision, and a performance bonus, but both men take huge credit for making this special night even more so.
No beating Nong-O
Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is getting a bit ridiculous now – figuring out how someone stops him even more so.
Russia’s Alaverdi Ramazanov started the fight well, and saw some levels of success in the opening rounds, but the way in which Nong-O figured his opponent out and then systematically dismantled him was terrifying.
A third round stoppage, after a barrage of heavy artillery, was enough to pocket a performance bonus – and send another message to his potential rivals.
Prajanchai back on the title hunt
Anyone wanting to write off Prajanchai PK.Saenchai can think again. Despite no longer being in possession of the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai world title Prajanchai is still as good as ever.
He keep the heat on Kompetch Sitsarawatsuer across every round this weekend, coming forward with a barrage of strikes at will, and not letting his younger opponent the window of opportunity he craved.
This unanimous decision puts him back in the win column, and surely on another collision course with Joseph Lasiri – the man who took his title.
