The Hammers are said to be interested in a deal for Alvaro FernandezRex
It is suggested that West Ham were growing frustrated with waiting for Maguire to secure a pay-out from his current Man United contract and it has seen the deal collapse as a result.
However all is not lost for David Moyes’ side with reports now claiming they are interested in attracting a different Man United defender to the London Stadium.
Spanish outlet Relevo has revealed that West Ham are exploring the possibility of signing Alvaro Fernandez.
However the East Londoners will have their work cut out for them if they’re to sign the 20-year-old with a whole host of other clubs also said to be in for him.
It is reported that Granada, Espanyol, Las Palmas, Eintracht Frankfurt and Burnley are also vying for the full-back’s signature.
Fernandez spent last season on loan in the Championship with Preston North End where he made 39 league appearances and registered four assists.
The youngster is still yet to make his professional debut for Man United, but has been with the club since 2020 when he joined rom Real Madrid’s u17’s.
West Ham have already had a busy window with James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez coming in to fill the gap vacated by Declan Rice.
