A CAR nut was left feeling like he was “in a Call of Duty map” after finding an army truck abandoned in a collapsing military tent.
RJ from WD Detailing shared his discovery, which turned out to be a 1980’s Mercedes G-Wagen, on his YouTube channel.
Car nut RJ discovered a Mercedes G-Wagen from the ’80s abandoned in an army tent
He said that the ex-military 4×4 was like something out of Call of Duty
The 4×4 was protected from the cold and snow of rural Ohio by nothing but the thin lining of the tent, where it had sat undisturbed for nearly 10 years.
The motor’s owner, Dieter, told RJ: “This car, my father sold to my uncle 40 years ago.
“About 20 years ago we reacquired it.
“What better place to put it than an original German military-issue army tent… these were originally made as military vehicles.”
The team from WD then extracted the G-Wagen from the tent and loaded it into a trailer to take back to their HQ in Cleveland, Ohio, for a thorough detailing.
Amazingly, it still ran perfectly despite nearly a decade of standing idle.
There were, though, some signs of its age, including a number of wasps’ nests that had taken root in the rim of the spare tyre.
Inside, they found a collection of manuals for the car, explaining almost every part of it including the frame and transmission.
Nonetheless, the engine bay was in great condition and only needed a wash and dry.
RJ and his colleague Mike then took viewers through the cleaning process, leaving the Merc as good as new.
Every aspect was washed and polished, with the final result sparkling and pristine.
Social media commenters were amazed by the transformation.
One wrote: “It’s amazing how many old cars these guys find with little to no rust.”
Another added: “This car is a dream of mine.”
It comes after an abandoned Mercedes “egg” was found hidden behind a recycling plant.
Meanwhile, a couple claimed to have been wrongly fined for charging up their electric car.
