The trash talk has well truly been flowing since the announcement of their grudge match earlier this year.

The duo got the opportunity to size one another up this morning at a heated pre-fight press conference, in which Covington mocked Edwards’ late father.

All that remained after their near on-stage scuffle was the small matter of making weight, which neither fighter had an issue with.

Covington, who has never had any issues making weight, took to the scales first.

The shredded southpaw comfortably came inside the 170lbs championship limit, coming in at 169.5lbs.

A lean and mean Edwards came in soon after.

And he made no mistake, coming in at 170lbs on the nose.

Edwards, 32, will bid to make the second defence of his welterweight title in Sin City this weekend.

And he’s anticipating a stoppage victory over former interim champion Covington.

The Brummie said: “He’s not as good as everyone thinks.

“He’s a guy that’s been stopped before by TKO, been choked out before, been taken down before, so there’s many ways that you can beat him.

“He’s just a normal fighter that’s more scrappy, basically.

“He’s like [Kamaru] Usman, but more scrappy, basically.

“Me and the team have come up with a great game plan to neutralize everywhere where he’s good at and my aim is to out and take him out.
