A HOLIDAYMAKER has warned people about the size of their hand luggage after a passenger was charged €125 (£107) to bring their bag onto a plane.
Luggage fees can really add to holiday costs, especially for those passengers who are charged at the boarding gate.

While holidaymakers are normally given the opportunity to squeeze and shove their luggage into baggage size checkers, one airline has introduced a stricter approach.
A recent video on TikTok showed a meticulous airline worker using a cardboard box to check to see if carry-on suitcases adhered to the airline’s requirements.
The large box, which was the same size as the airline’s carry-on requirements, was placed over the top of suitcases at the boarding gate.
If the box was unable to slide over the entirety of the suitcase, passengers were fined.
In the video, the passengers, who were flying with TAP Air Portugal, the Portuguese flag carrier, could be heard complaining about the technique.
The footage, which was posted by TikTok user ayygold, showed one woman attempting to make her black carry-on suitcase fit into the cardboard box.
In the video, she can be heard asking: “Can you squeeze it [the cardboard box] down more?”
The airline worker replied: “No, no.”
In the video’s caption, it was revealed that passengers were charged €125 (£107) for their oversized bags.
The caption read: “They [airline staff] made nearly €2,000 (£1,723) while boarding today and thought they were the good guys. Totally corrupt!
“It’s sad that the Portuguese national airline has this policy, which is not clearly stated.”
The video has had more than 9million views on the social media platform, with users sharing their own experiences in the comments.
One person wrote: “Yeah, TAP Portugal is insane.”
While another added: “It clearly fits!”
Other users shared their own experiences of flying with the Portuguese flag carrier.
Someone wrote: “This happened to me and I took my bag on anyway, and I took photos of it in the overhead bin to prove that it did fit.”
Another person wrote: “I flew TAP once, and they pulled out a scale and weighed every carry-on bag.
“I ended up paying €170 (£146) even though my bag fit the overhead dimensions.”
In the comments, other people thought that the passengers who were fined should’ve checked the airline’s carry-on requirements before arriving at the airport.
This isn’t the first time passengers have been left disgruntled by charges at the boarding gate.
On a Frontier flight, Skateboarder Shaun Hover was checking in for his flight, when he was told he would have to pay $89 (£75) for his board as it didn’t technically fit the hand luggage measurements.
Instead of paying the extra money, Shaun decided to stamp on his skateboard, breaking it in half, meaning he would then be able to take it on board the flight without having to fork out for the extra space.
Meanwhile, this easyJet passenger was filmed hilarious trying to fit his bag into the size checker.
And this woman dodged Ryanair’s hand luggage rules by sneaking a bag in under her coat.
