Messi, 35, decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain after two years in the French capital.

He was strongly linked with a return to former club Barcelona.

But Messi left fans stunned when he instead announced an agreement with American club Inter Miami.

David Beckham’s franchise have struggled to impress in the MLS and are marooned at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

And Messi will now be tasked with leading them up the table to a play-off spot.

The World Cup winner is expected to link up with his new side next month.

And in the meantime, Messi is back home in his native Rosario taking things easy with his family.

The veteran is unwinding with wife Antonela Roccuzzo, 35, and their three sons Thiago, 11, Mateo, 8, and Ciro, 5.

And the group decided to pass some time by enjoying a calming bike ride around the neighbourhood.

Video captured from a passing car showed Messi and his family cycling on their bikes around the streets.

Messi can be seen turning and waving to the camera after heading off in a different direction.

And he looked to be enjoying a quieter lifestyle after years of playing at Europe’s top level.

Reflecting on his decision to reject Barcelona for Inter Miami, Messi said: “I have taken the decision that I am going to Miami, to leave Europe.

“It’s true I had offers from another European team but I didn’t even think about it because in Europe, my idea was only to go to Barcelona.

“After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barca, it’s time to go to MLS to live football in a different way and enjoy my day-to-day life more.

“Obviously with the same responsibility and desire to win, and to do things well, but with more calm.”
