Luckily, a road worker was on hand to stop the woman, driving a Ford Fiesta, from making the dangerous move.

After the workman speaks to her, the elderly lady reverses back into her original laneKennedy News and Media

The footage shows the woman getting out of her car and walking into a coned-off area that was separating the queue of traffic she was stuck in from a free-flowing lane.

She then is seen moving two rows of cones apart to create a gap between the lanes.

The woman gets back into her car and takes a sharp right through the first row, and appears to wait for a gap to turn into the other lane.

Luckily, a road worker confronts the woman and points for her to return to the traffic queue, guiding her as she reverses.

The video was filmed last week by lorry driver Anthony Foulkes – who was waiting for an accident to clear on the A12.

He said: “She’s just impatient and too posh to wait. I couldn’t believe she was actually doing it.

“A lady of her age should know better; if it were a 20-year-old lad, I’d understand it. She couldn’t even lift the cones. Luckily a hero in a hi-viz turned up.

“She had ants in her pants. She was out of her car in around six minutes. She chatted to people in front and behind, then built up some courage.

“She moved them all wrong. She should have staggered the cones so the gaps were on an angle so she didn’t have to make such a sharp left and then a sharp right. She messed it up.

“The cones are there for a reason. You’ve just got to put up with it. Everyone else has to. If someone’s had an accident, you can’t do anything about it.”

The video captioned ‘Just another normal day on the A12’, has been shared almost 6,000 times.

And people have been quick to comment on social media.

One said: “You are all mad at the old lady… but I feel her anger. I wouldn’t do this, but I sure as hell would have thought about it, lol.”

Another said: “It’s unbelievable. That man probably saved a lot of lives by sending her back.”

A third pointed out: “Amazing a roadworker did some work by moving the cone.”

This comes after an elderly woman was caught driving a mobility scooter along a dual carriageway during rush hour.

Plus, this is the moment a truck driver uses the opposite lane to overtake a huge queue of traffic while obeying the Highway Code and staying on the right side of the law.
