Watch as biker overtakes dozens of queuing cars because drivers don’t understand road rules – but viewers are divided

A TikTok video, showing the moment a biker overtakes dozens of queuing cars, has left viewers divided.

Dash cam footage shows a biker travelling along the right-hand lane of a dual carriageway, before spotting signs indicating that roadworks are up ahead and that the lane would shortly be closed off.

The rider continues to filter and overtake driversTikTok/@yodomcat

TikTok user @yodomcat recorded the moment he skipped the traffic on the left by simply using the empty right-hand lane until the roadwork cones started to appear.

Then, the rider moves across and filters into the left lane – with ample space to do so.

He says on the video: “I don’t understand what is so difficult about merging in turn.

“Use both lanes until you can’t use both lanes. Then you do the whole British polite one at a time into the open lane. Rant over. Time to filter.”

The poster titled the video: “Why can’t the British merge in turn?”

Rule 134 of the Highwway Code states: “In congested road conditions, do not change lanes unnecessarily.

“Merging, in turn, is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.”

However, viewers were left divided after watching the dash cam footage.

One said: “It’s easier for a bike. With cars, people don’t allow you in. If you don’t, take it. So you sit at the merge.”

Another said: “My step-dad would not move over. In fact, he would move the other way to prevent you from going in. LMAO.”

While a third pointed out: “Um, could be wrong, but once there’s one lane, isn’t he supposed to stick in the lane instead of passing the cars as if there are two?”

This comes after a truck driver used the opposite lane to overtake a huge queue of traffic while obeying the Highway Code – and staying on the right side of the law.

Plus, this is the shocking moment a driver overtakes other cars on a blind corner, forcing oncoming traffic to swerve out of the way.
