Vodafone announces major broadband upgrade that speeds ahead of BT, EE and Virgin Media – and it’s coming next year

VODAFONE is planning to launch its fastest ever broadband and it could be available in homes as soon as next year.

The firm has announced a huge upgrade to its service that the likes of BT, EE and Virgin Media can’t match.

Early 2024, Vodafone says it will start offering speeds of up to 2.2Gbps.

This means big download games like Call of Duty can be on your PS5 or Xbox Series X within about three minutes.

A single TV show could be on your telly in less than 12 seconds, Vodafone claims.

By comparison, BT‘s EE revealed it’s starting a 1.6Gbps service.

And Virgin Media‘s fastest speed is currently 1Gbps.

Vodafone’s upgrade will be available to those with Pro II Broadband.

It currently costs £38 per month.

However, you’ll only be able to get the new speeds if you’re in the right area.

The company will use CityFibre’s network, which is only ready for service in 2.5million homes.

It aims to cover 8million by the end of 2025.

“We’re the biggest Full Fibre provider in the UK and these new 2.2Gbps speeds are going to be a game changer in 2024,” said Max Taylor, Chief Commercial Officer Vodafone UK.

“Being able to provide our customers with these phenomenal speeds showcases the true capability of our Pro II Broadband.

“With the UK’s fastest router, customers will be able to get the fastest broadband speeds, in all corners of the home, and at an amazing price.”
