Victoria Beckham once banned eye contact with her while on music show, claims host Gail Porter

Victoria Beckham once reportedly demanded that no one make eye contact with her during a live performance on British music program Top of the Pops, host Gail Porter has reportedly claimed.

During a 2000 appearance of Out Of Your Mind – a song Beckham collaborated with True Steppers and Dane Bowers on in her first solo career move – the singers’ team allegedly told crew members on the show to refrain from making eye contact.

As reported in The Sun, Porter recalls: ”Victoria and Dane’s people had banned anyone from making eye contact with them while they were there, so it was super awkward.

“And lovely Travis (the Scottish band), I was looking at them and they were making w—er signals “, she said, with the band presumably making the rude gestures due to the singers’ request.

“So anyway, I am standing going, ‘It’s Gail Porter, it’s still No1, it’s still Top Of The Pops’, and because the cameras can’t see them, ‘Please welcome to the stage Victoria Beckham and Dane Bowers, Out Of Your Mind’.”

Porter says there was one disaster after another on the show, with the pop duo seemingly freezing on stage after completing the performance.

“We were all sitting in the make-up room, watching on the monitor, going, ‘They’re still there’,” said Porter.

“There was a camera there and they weren’t sure if the camera was still on, so they didn’t want to move until it left.

“I had to walk behind them to get off and I said to the director, ‘What do I do?’

“The cameraman was like, ‘I’m not moving, this is too funny’. I said, ‘That’s mean’. He said: ‘It’s hilarious’.”
