Very rare ‘well maintained’ Ford Capri Turbo with sporty rear spoiler hits auction – it’s one of 200 models ever made

AN extremely rare and “well maintained” Ford Capri Turbo that’s just one of 200 ever made has hit auction.

The variant was produced in a limited run in the early ’80s just a few years before manufacturing of the model shut down altogether.

This particular motor was sold new in Switzerland and remained there until it was sold to a Danish petrolhead.

It was one of the last Turbo versions of the iconic model to be produced, rolling off the factory line in 1982.

The single-turbocharged 2.8-litre V6 engine putting out a top speed of 137mph is what sets it apart from the standard Capri, which generally used an inline-four configuration.

The Capri was manufactured at Ford’s plants in Halewood, Merseyside and Cologne, Germany, from 1968 until 1986, just four years after the last turbo was built.

Listing the car on CC Cars, the seller said: “Here is the opportunity to acquire one of these very rare models.

“The car is extremely nice and well maintained.”

It comes with a service book and Swiss registration papers and will need to be collected or delivered from Denmark, where it is currently stored.

Finished in a bright red paintjob, the Capri appears to be in excellent condition.

The exterior is clean and free from visible scratches and it even boasts a sport real spoiler, while photos from inside reveal a pristine grey fabric trim.

The spacious boot also houses a spare tyre and a peak under the bonnet shows the engine bay to have been meticulously maintained, with what appear to be largely original parts.

It is currently on offer for £57,000 and remains unsold since being listed in November 2023.

The sale comes after a Range Rover developed by TV’s Noel Edmonds as a “mobile office” also went up for grabs.
