AN urgent recall has been issued on a common kitchen appliance over fears it could cause fires.

The product recall applies to a toaster made by household gadget giant Bosch.

It applies to Bosch Styline toasters which were made between January 2022 and May this year, likely purchased during that time.

The manufacturer is recalling the models which have the product codes TAT8611GB and TAT8613GB with batch numbers FD0201 to FD0306.

These models have a fault which “under certain circumstances” could lead to overheating and may cause a fire.

The toaster is a two-slice design with an LED display.

If you have one of these toasters Bosch is advising you stop using it and disconnect it from the electricity supply.

In the official recall notice: “The product presents a risk of fire and injury as quality checks have revealed a technical fault.

“Under certain circumstances, this fault can lead to the electronics overheating and a toaster fire starting.

It also said that the product doesn’t meet the requirements of official safety regulations.

Customers are being urged to check their toaster against the photo above and then check the bottom for both the batch code and model number.

You can pop these in the Bosch website to check for sure if yours is one of those affected – type in productsafety.bsh-group.com/gb/en/toaster.

Customers can also call the service number 01536 436236 top speak to a member of the team.

Bosch said: “We offer every owner of an affected toaster a free exchange or a refund.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

If you have an affected toaster you’ll need to provide the batch number and product code when applying for a refund.

Meanwhile, earlier this year Poundland issued an urgent recall on one of its toys over choking fears.

And, a warning was issued to parents after Asda recalled a popular baby item.

What are my rights to a refund?

If you’re returning a recalled product, your rights to get a refund depends on whether the fault makes the product unsafe.

Sometimes the business will repair the product, for example by fitting a new part. But this should be done for you.

If a fault makes a product unsafe to use — and it’s difficult to correct the fault — the Consumer Guarantees Act says you might have the right to reject the product and claim a replacement or a refund.
