A ULEZ camera van has been slapped with a hefty fine after being caught “parking illegally”.
Local independent councillor James Giles reported the vehicle, which enforces the hated levy, for sitting on the pavement in Kingston-upon-Thames, South London.

In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, Cllr Giles said he wanted to send a “message” to Transport for London.
He said: “I’m here on the Cambridge Road in Norbiton, where a Transport for London ULEZ camera mobile van has just been ticketed at my request for parking illegally on the pavement.
“It’s a very busy road but what we can’t have is vehicles parked outside of parking bays on the pavement illegally.”
He then panned the camera round to show the van with a yellow penalty charged notice stuck onto the windscreen.
It is illegal to park on urban roads with your wheels on a pavement, carriageway divider or grass verge.
As a result, the driver of the van, who TfL confirmed to be a contractor, will be required to cough up £110 for the offence.
Cllr Giles added: “There are plenty of proper parking spaces in that location.
“Parking on the highway that isn’t built for parking will damage our highway and cost the authority money. Everyone must park legally.
“I’m hoping TfL get the message and stop parking illegally…to enforce the ULEZ.”
And social media commenters shared his anger at the driver’s behaviour.
One wrote: “Brilliant work Sir, rules work both ways and TFL has been educated.”
Another added: “Genius.”
A TfL spokesman said: “TfL fully supports the use of highway authority powers to enforce against parking in unauthorised locations.
“We will remind drivers of their responsibilities and our contractor, who will be paying the penalty charge notice.”
