Welterweight champion Leon Edwards was heavily tipped to make an appearance as was former two-time UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya.

Many fans were also hoping to see Conor McGregor finally return to the octagon after two-and-a-half years out of the sport, in a potential match-up with Michael Chandler.

Instead, the main event will see a showdown between light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and former champ Jamahal Hill.

White was excited to announce the clash, describing Pereira as “violent and scary all-action striker” while reminding fans Hill only lost his light heavyweight belt because of injury.

Another added: “That’s not main event 300 worthy Dana.”
