Trevor Francis death updates — Nottingham Forest legend and Britain’s first million-pound football signing dies aged 69

ENGLISH football legend Trevor Francis, who played for several clubs in England, Italy and the United States has died aged 69.

Trevor Francis died at his apartment near Marbella in Spain today with efforts now being made to repatriate his body, after he suffered from a suspected heart attack.

Footy icon Trevor became England’s first-ever £1million player when he transferred from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest in 1979.

He would go on to earn several caps for England, playing 52 times and scoring 12 goals for the Three Lions.

He later managed both QPR and Sheffield Wednesday – famously causing Eric Cantona to storm out after a trial for the Owls, but he denied the story, claiming the team never had the budget to sign him.
