BEFORE you get your next round in at the pub, you should head to the airport instead – as it will be cheaper.

The cheap holiday deal works out to just £34 each a night, staying in the Latvian capital Riga.

You need to fly on October 3, and will stay at the Dodo Hotel Riga which was the capital’s “first low cost hotel concept”.

Not only is it rated 4 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, but it is just a 10-minute tram ride from all the major attractions.

You’ll fly from London Luton but don’t worry as the trip is ATOL protected.

You’ll have to be quick as it will likely sell out at the cheap price.

You won’t spend much when you are out there either.

This year’s Post Office’s annual City Cost Barometer named Riga as one of the cheapest cities for a weekend break in Europe.

While most people head to Riga for the Christmas markets, its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Make sure you go on a beer tour too – a Latvian pint will set you back just £3.50.

If you want another cheap city break, you should head to another eastern European city.

Both Wizz Air and Ryanair operate direct flights from London to Sofia for as little as £20 each way.

Food and drink is cheap too – a bottle of Bulgarian beer costs as little 80p, while a meal out a mid-range restaurant will cost £12.

And we’ve rounded up some other cheap European city breaks which start from £69pp.

If you want to stay in the UK, here’s a cheap British city break where hotels are just £37 a night.
