In this video posted to TikTok, Owen shows off five quick but essential checks you can make to your car before travelling on UK roads in frozen conditions.
Starting with tyres, the traffic cop explains that motorists must check for tread depth, cuts and bulges on the sidewall of the tyre and also that pressures are correct.
He also points to brakes, with the depth of the brake pad a vital check – as well as the condition of the discs.
Moving up, wipers are very important and must be in good working condition – with checks including making sure the wiper’s rubber is not perished and that they’re cleaning the screen properly.
Owen also points to the car’s wiper fluid, saying that drivers must make sure the bottle is topped up sufficiently.
With lights, Owen simply says that the front and rear lights of your car must be checked often to make sure they’re working properly.
Finally, he advises drivers to make sure they have a de-icer and scraper to hand to get rid of ice and frost from the car’s windscreen.
This comes after drivers were warned over a key mistake that actually makes their windscreens fog up more – and it’s all down to a little-known button.
Meanwhile, a driving instructor has revealed the worst place to put your foot while driving in the winter.
Content creator DGN Driving took to TikTok to share his genius hacks – helping drivers avoid potentially deadly mishaps during rough conditions on the road.
