Tourists left stunned after being charged €70 for four drinks at holiday hotspot – including €16 for Coca-Cola

A GROUP of tourists were left horrified by their very steep bill after visiting a popular holiday hotspot.

The friends, from Spain, were visiting Venice when they stopped at a restaurant in St Mark’s Square.

Having ordered just four drinks and some snacks, they were left stunned when the bill arrived – and cost €70.

This included a Guinness and two beers, as well as a Coca-Cola costing a very steep €16.

The video, shared by TikTok user David Senda, showed the group laughing in shock.

One of them said that the snacks would “have to be their dinner” after how much they paid.

The person filming joked: “I’ll take the beer mat to remember this by.”

People on TikTok were just as shocked by the price.

One person said: “€16 for a coke? When I see them in the supermarket I promise I won’t complain about the price.

Another person wrote: “I sat down, saw the prices and got up and left.”

A third remarked: “The first thing I learned in Rome is that if you have a coffee sitting at the table, the service costs more than the coffee.”

Some had even worse experiences in Venice – someone said they were charged “€5 for the table and €5 for the cutlery for the fork that I didn’t ask for for the pizza”.

It sadly isn’t the first time tourists have been caught out while in Italy.

A group of Japanese students called the police after a restaurant tried to charge them £970 for three steaks and a plate of fried fish.

And another tourist blasted a cafe in Venice that charged him £38 for two coffees and two waters.

It’s not just Venice either.

Last year, tourists in Rome said they were charged £430 to take photos with men dressed up near the Colosseum.

And a woman said she was charged £510 while on holiday in Greece for just two drinks and snacks.
