Ref Stuart Attwell appeared to have issues with his microphone ahead of kick-off.
He was greeted with ironic cheers as the game finally got underway a couple of minutes late.
A bizarre start to the day also saw opposing bosses Cristian Stellini and Roberto De Zerbi appear to angrily exchange words.
Brighton boss De Zerbi was seen pointing a finger at Stellini as they shook hands ahead of the game.
They were then back at it as Lewis Dunk netted an equaliser after Son Heung-min had initially put the hosts in front.
Sky Sports claim De Zerbi celebrated in front of the Spurs bench when the Seagulls scored.
It came after Tottenham gaffer Stellini had talked up his fellow Italian in the build up to the clash.
Speaking on De Zerbi’s Brighton, he said: “They [Brighton] are well prepared when you start to press them, they find a way to overcome your pressure.

“I think De Zerbi found a good solution to play with his style because that team came with Potter and they know themselves very well.”
