Tottenham legend tells Harry Kane why he SHOULD quit Spurs for Bayern Munich transfer as he points to old team-mate

TOTTENHAM legend Gus Poyet has told Harry Kane to follow his heart when deciding on his future… but warns him nothing feels better than winning a title.

Kane has entered the final 12 months of his Spurs contract and has been linked with Bayern Munich as well as Manchester United this summer.

But Poyet warned Kane there is no better feeling than winning trophiesRex

But chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a staggering £100million price-tag on the star striker, despite his advanced age of 29 years old, which has scared off potential suitors, leaving his future in limbo.

The England captain is one of the best players in the world and has proven to be totally loyal to the North Londoners, but hasn’t won a single piece of silverware throughout his career as he enters his thirties.

Poyet claimed two years ago that Kane needs to leave his former club to finally win some trophies, but now insists it is up to him.

The Greece boss, however, knows a lot about major honours having won Copa del Rey with Real Zaragoza, Copa America with Uruguay as well as the FA Cup and Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup with Chelsea.

And the Uruguayan tactician hinted Tottenham and England’s record goalscorer is missing out on a fantastic experience.

Poyet told SunSport on behalf of 888sport: “I made a strong opinion two years ago, I said Harry needed to move somewhere else to have that feeling of winning things.

“It’s very personal, very personal. I can go back to the time when [Kyle] Walker left Spurs [for Manchester City] and he got destroyed by everybody. People are so naive that they were only saying he is leaving because of money.

“First and foremost, we all want to earn more money. If somebody says the opposite [then] he’s not living in this planet. Secondly, he always said that he wants to have a challenge, to win titles. What can you say now about Walker? Winning everything and earning money.

Poyet is confident Mason Mount will succeed at Manchester United after leaving ChelseaGetty

“So like I said, I think it’s very personal, we are all different. The only thing I can add is there is nothing in football – nothing – like the feeling when you win something.

“We all play for money, that’s for sure. For example, I always talk about Uruguayans. We fight for everything during the negotiations. We put the contract in the drawer. And after that there is only one thing in front of us, [and] it’s winning.

“So the money is always gonna be there. But the best moments in football, I can tell you like that. It’s all about winning trophies.”

Another England international who has looked for a greater challenge is Mason Mount, who left Chelsea for United following a £60million deal.

Poyet was disappointed to see his former club sanctioning a move for Mount, who was brought up at Stamford Bridge, and selling him to a direct Premier League rival.

And the Chelsea legend is confident the versatile midfielder can become a success at Old Trafford despite barely featuring last season.

That is because the 55-year-old remembers the West Londoners dominating when Mount was at his best but “suffered a lot” when he was absent.

Poyet added when asked if the 24-year-old can succeed at United: “I wouldn’t doubt it, I think that the last year-and-a-half when Mason Mount was at his best Chelsea were winning football games. When he was not playing or he was not 100 per cent Chelsea suffered a lot.

“It’s probably the biggest surprise for me and Chelsea, the situation of Mount leaving. But as always, we don’t know the whole truth. We don’t know why he didn’t play a lot in the last six, seven months or eight months.

“There were many things that weren’t clarified by anyone relating to Chelsea, so it’s a big disappointment for me that Mason has left Chelsea and is gonna take his quality to one of their rivals.”
