LEGENDARY trainer Paul Nicholls has said he is totally ‘mortified’ at the death of his jockey and yard worker Reagan Kirkby.
The talented horseman, who started working for the 14-time champion trainer in 2019, is understood to have died while riding at a point-to-point meeting.
Kirkby, middle, with Nicholls, left, and top rider Harry Cobden, right, has sadly died in a terrible racing accident
Kirkby won a prestigious ’employee of the month’ award in January 2022 and was described as a ‘real trooper’ at his Ditcheat yard in Somerset.
A shellshocked Nicholls wrote on X: “Life is so hard sometimes, winners totally insignificant compared to what has happened today.
“Sadly Keagan Kirby one of our best, hardworking lads lost his life today riding in a point to point.
“All at team ditcheat are mortified. Thoughts with all his friends and family.”
More to follow.
