His partnership with the brand spanned almost three decades and was worth $500million.

In a statement shared to social media, he wrote: “Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world.

“The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever.

“Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way.

“People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!”

Woods’ statement comes after rumours of a split from the company last month.

It had been claimed that December’s PNC Championship would be his last wearing Nike apparel.

The 48-year-old has worn the iconic swoosh since 1996, after signing with the brand aged just 20.

The company has since provided his iconic Sunday red looks and featured him in multiple commercials.

His first deal was worth a reported $40million over five years before an estimated $100million five-year deal was signed in 2001, per ESPN.

Another deal worth $20-40million annually was agreed in 2006 for eight years before being extended in 2013, according to Forbes.

His most recent Nike deal was believed to be worth $200million.

Following Woods’ exit, Nike could shut down its golf division, No Laying Up previously reported.

Nike stopped making golf equipment in 2016 and have only sold clothing since.

Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka are amongst the other golf stars partnered with the brand.
