On this occasion he angered fans by claiming to be injured before springing back up to his feet moments later.

The midfielder appeared to go down hurt after taking a shot from distance under pressure from Saša Lukić.

Fernandes flung himself to the floor theatrically despite not receiving any contact from the Fulham star.

He clutched his ankle and waved at referee Michael Oliver before rolling around in apparent agony.

But seconds later he was magically healed as he leapt to his feet before asking for the ball to be passed to him.

Fans were outraged by Fernandes’ behaviour with many criticising the 29-year-old.

One reacted saying: “Normally a big Bruno fan but this is PATHETIC.”

Another added: “Absolutely shows what he’s all about. What a tool.”

A third wrote: “Everything that’s wrong with modern footballers. More interested in winning a free-kick than doing anything positive in that move.”

And another commented: “Maguire is a better captain than this guy”

United were beaten for the first time in eight games by Fulham with Alex Iwobi sealing a 2-1 win late on.
