This 40-1 shot looks perfect for the Albert Bartlett – Templegate’s Cheltenham Festival 2024 ante-post tips

THERE really is nothing like Cheltenham Festival.

Barely has the dust settled on this one and already punters are licking their lips in anticipation of next year’s renewal.

ReutersTeahupoo has Grade 1 form in the book and could be a big shout for next year’s Stayers’ Hurdle[/caption]

And, history tells us, now can be the time to have a dabble on some potential runners for 2024 with big ante-post prices available.

One punter saw an incredible £20 double placed on Christmas Eve 2021 come in nearly 18 months later, returning £25,000.

We’re not promising you can do likewise, but there’s no doubt there is value about certain runners to be had.

After studying the highlights in detail, Sun Racing’s Templegate lists his eyecatchers from the 2023 Festival below.

Just remember, before non-runner no bet comes in, all ante-post bets are marked as losers if the horse doesn’t run.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at who got our man’s attention.

TEAHUPOO 12-1 for 2024 Stayers’ Hurdle

Of the horses I backed last week that didn’t win, I was happiest with TEAHUPOO.

He didn’t get much luck in running and any chance he had of catching Sire Du Berlais was knocked by Dashel Drasher jumping right across him at the final flight.

He then closed quickly to the line but the game winner had enough in the tank to stay in front.

Gordon Elliott’s stayer is only six and this was just his second run over this sort of trip and there’s likely to be improvement to come.

The only worry is that he’s at his very best in more testing conditions but this was only good to soft ground and he still performed well.

At a general 12-1 that is a more than fair price for him to come back and win in 12 months’ time.

CAPTAIN TEAGUE 40-1 for 2024 Albert Bartlett Hurdle

Paul Nicholls has a real prospect in this five-year-old who broke into the Irish domination when third in the Champion Bumper.

He was very green on just his second run and he finished off strongly.

A dream result in the @weatherbysltd Champion Bumper!

He will make a nice hurdler and the yard won the Albert Bartlett this year with a similar type in Stay Away Fay.

Captain Teague is one to watch as he jumps a hurdle and he should appreciate a stiffer test of stamina.

GAELIC WARRIOR 16-1 and CHAMP KIELY 20-1 for 2024 Turners’ Novice Chase

These two both look like chasers in the making and did well to finish second and third in the Ballymore over hurdles.

They both have the size to jump fences well and see out this trip strongly.

I would favour Gaelic Warrior slightly because he’s the younger horse but they can both achieve plenty and are worth splitting your stakes about.
