‘There’s no place like home’: Melissa George finally returns home to Australia

Aussie actress Melissa George has returned to her native Perth after years spent living abroad.

The former Home and Away star, 47, who is usually based in Paris with her sons, shared to Instagram a series of pictures of herself visiting a sheep farm in Western Australia.

Appearing to have a change of tune about her home country, she shared a picture of a sunny day at the beach and wrote: “Winter in Perth… No place like home.”

The Bad Mothers star shared a picture of herself looking stylish in a pair of white trousers and a blazer and joked: “I clearly didn’t do the shearing.”

George is believed to have family in Perth, despite now living in France.

In 2012, George told The Sydney Morning Herald that she didn’t want to come back to Australia because local media outlets would always mention her role as Angel Parrish on Home and Away.

”I think it will be the last time [I visit and work here] for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset coming home,” she said at the time.

George left the soap in 1996 and carved out a career in Hollywood, landing roles in films including Triangle, The Amityville Horror and 30 Days of Night.

She has previously been outspoken in her dislike over being typecast as her character in Home and Away.

However in 2019, she spoke about her love for Australia in an interview with TV WEEK.

”Whenever I come to Australia, I feel complete,” she said.

She also recently told another publication that she’s happy to talk about her time on the soap.

“You can ask the new Melissa now about Home And Away,” she said.
