She revealed that she used a special bottle that comes with a common pet product to her advantage.

The pet stain and odour remover, from popular brand Dr Beckmann, features a quirk that makes it surprisingly useful in freezing weather.

In her video, Sophie showed how the bottle the product comes in features an unusual lid with a brush on top.

The idea is that the liquid in the bottle is released through the brush, which can then be used to scrub surfaces.

It was initially meant to remove stains left by furry friends in carpets and the like.

However, the savvy motorist revealed that you can simply refill the bottle with warm water and use it to de-ice your windscreen on chilly morning.

This effectively combines the trick of putting water in a plastic bag to wipe the glass with the old-school method of using a scraper.

The warm water melts the ice, which is then brushed away all in one swish.

Social media commenters loved the handy tip.

One wrote simply: “OMG amazing.”

However, drivers are warned to only ever use room temperature or very slightly warm water for this method.

Never use hot or boiling water on your windscreen as this can cause thermal shock.

This is when different parts of the glass expand unevenly due to the heat, leading to cracks and even to a shattered windscreen.

Tim Rodie, from Motorpoint, advised: “The rapid temperature change can cause your windscreen to crack.

“It’s also important to remember that if your car hasn’t warmed up, the water on your windscreen can refreeze – obstructing your view.

“Not to mention, causing your windscreen wipers to stick.”
