The unusual way to avoid feeling holiday anxiety – and it’s pilot-approved

AN UNUSUAL way to help soothe pre-flight anxiety has been revealed – and it’s pilot-approved.

Passengers are ensuring they’ve packed an extra travel essential to apply when they’re airborne.

While planes are reportedly cleaned after every flight, the depth of the clean depends on the layover and sometimes even the country.

Packing some anti-bacterial gel will mean you can rest easy before take off – and also means you can wash your hands without worrying about the plane water.

Flight attendant Patrick told eShores: “Cabins are given at least a cursory straightening up after every flight.

“Deeper cleanings take place when a plane has a longer layover.

“The quality of the cleaning can vary from station to station.

“At my airline, I notice our planes are tidier when the cleaning takes place in Europe or Asia, versus a U.S. domestic station.”

It comes after a flight attendant sensationally urged travellers to use sanitiser “to clean your armrests, your seat and your tray table before you sit down”.

She continued: “I know that shouldn’t be your job, but we don’t have time between flights, nor do the cleaning crews who do an amazing job as it is.

“Unfortunately, planes are very dirty places and if you want to make sure you’re not sitting among a load of germs, you’re best off coming prepared.

“I’m not saying you need to give your seating area a deep clean, nor am I suggesting you’ll get ill if you don’t do it.

“The truth of the matter is, you don’t know who’s been in your seat before you – or what their cleaning routine is like.

“People with all sorts of different opinions on hygiene and cleanliness are flying on our planes and I’ve seen some things that would make you want to fly in a hazmat suit.

“From nappy changing on tray tables to filing toe nails in the seats and everything in between, I’ve seen it all.

“Some people are going to spend more than half a day in those seats and if that was me, I know I’d want it to be as clean as possible.”

It comes after one flight attendant encouraged travellers to avoid plane water like the plague.

Although the airlines tell passengers that they do “regular water quality tests,” TikTok creator @cierra_mistt said this isn’t as frequent as you think.
