The unique swimming shorts that stop your valuables getting stolen at the beach

FOR some people, going for a swim is an absolute must during a day out at the seaside, particularly during the summer.

However, leaving your valuables in the sand while you go for a dip is always risky and hugely increases your chances of having them stolen.

But a new pair of shorts could change that, with unique technology meaning you can take phones, cameras and other expensive items in the sea, without them getting ruined.

The Irontide shorts come with “revolutionary” waterproof pockets,  taken from a NASA space technology development programme.

The pocket can be used to store cash, electronic devices and other things you’d rather not leave behind on the beach while relaxing in the sea.

The Irontide website claims that the shorts were created to overcome the “major problem of having nowhere to store our valuables”.

It adds: “We realised that issues were recurring problems and that there had to be a more better solution- a modern solution”.

The shorts are also “quick drying” meaning that they can be worn for water-based activities like kayaking and paddleboarding without the wearer needing to worry about being stuck in wet clothes after.

The waterproof pocket meanwhile is has a magnetic closing device using “neodymium magnets, renowned as the most powerful permanent magnets”.

Irontide promises that the pocket is completely waterproof for depths of up to 100 feet underwater, “enabling you to conveniently store all your valuables within arm’s reach”.

Previous buyers have been really impressed with their purchases too, with one describing them as “Awesome adventure shorts”.

The reviewer added: “Used them every day for a trip in Mexico.

“Snorkelling, motorcycle riding, bicycle riding, swimming in ocean, etc. Pouch is really good at keeping items dry (wallet+phone), shorts are super comfortable.”

Another wrote: “Great shorts! They’re comfortable and have tonnes of pockets.

“The waterproof pocket is large enough to hold your phone, keys and wallet with ease.”

A third added: “Great pair of shorts. Exactly like it’s advertised. Waterproof pocket works very well.”

Two different types of the short are available, with the “Adventure Short” designed for “fishing, kayaking hiking and sailing”.

They’re available online from £70 via the Irontide website.

Meanwhile, the “2.0 Hybrid Short” is designed for “beach outings, swimming, surfing, paddleboarding and sailing” and is available online from £62.

The shorts are one of a number of innovative products available for tourists.

Laundry sheets

Claire Sturzaker has spent the last two decades travelling to 40 countries, so knows exactly what she needs to pack for trips away.

In an article for Insider, the full-time traveller said that laundry sheets were one of her main items she always puts in her case.

She said: “It almost looks like paper, but it’s laundry soap on a sheet.

“They’re really good and they smell nice, so you can put them in your backpack and it makes it smell nice in there as well.”

Caribiner clips

The clever clips are useful for people packing for a holiday, who don’t want to take more than one bag.

AFAR magazine wrote: “A carabiner clipped to the outside of your bag can be useful; it can hold an extra pair of shoes, a water bottle, a hat, or a jacket.”

Meanwhile, these are some of the best swimming shorts available according to Sun Online.

And this £6 item means you will never get stopped at airport security again.
