A SPECIAL train journey is scheduled to set off once again this year, taking passengers on a nighttime trip, complete with lights, music and illuminated landscapes.
North Yorkshire is home to some of the country’s most impressive scenery, but few people get the chance to see it lit up in bright colours from the cabin of a classic train.

However, every autumn, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Light Spectacular sets off a unique trip, offering an on-board party that allows youngsters to have “the time of their lives”.
This year the journeys will take place on selected dates between October 27 and November 12.
The “heritage” train carriages are wrapped with twinkling fairy lights inside and out, while a carefully mixed selection of music will be played throughout, alongside commentary from the X-Factor‘s very own voiceover man.
The journey lasts an hour and travels between Pickering and Levisham and each passenger on board will be given a glowing wristband that will flash in sync with the music.
Pickering Station will sell refreshments for those on board, while a trolley service will also be available during the trip.
Someone who loved their Light Spectacular journey was blogger Little Vikings, who said that it was great entertainment for all of their children.
They wrote: “For sixty minutes, we sat in our seats, dancing and singing along to music from the 60s and beyond at top volume, while travelling through the illuminated landscape.
“Our younger children (10 and 8) adored it, and even our harder-to-please 12-year-old reluctantly admitted that he’d really enjoyed it.
“Lots of children of toddler/pre-school age were bouncing about in their seats, looking as though they were having the time of their lives.”
They also shared footage from their trip on Tiktok (@littlevikingsyorkforkids) which revealed what people could expect.
It showed the lit up carriages, the flashing wristbands and the illuminated Yorkshire landscapes.
The Light Spectacular website reads: “Marvel at our heritage carriages, decorated with thousands of lights, before departing from Pickering Station for an awe-inspiring journey alongside a DJ-Mix of music that will get you in the mood for a party the whole family will enjoy.
“Each passenger will be given their own interactive LED wristband which is synchronised to the music and passengers become part of the show.
“This hour-long round trip, with on-board narration and music, departs from Pickering Station for Levisham Station.”
Tickets for the train journey cost £25 for adults and children, while carers ride for free.
Discounts are available for larger group bookings.
Meanwhile, this much-loved Harry Potter train attraction reopened last month.
And you can ride London Underground trains on this island miles away from the capital.
