A NEW “thrill” ride is being built at a popular UK theme park, with hopes of unveiling it to the public next year.
Work has already begun to start constructing the attraction, which is predicted to become a family favourite.

Drayton Manor Park has already opened a new Thomas the Tank Engine ride earlier this year, but the park already has plans to expand further next year.
Managing director Victoria Lynn said that ground has already been broken on the new “family thrill coaster” and that she wants it to be seen as one of the best rides in the country.
Speaking earlier this year, she said that the park wanted to cater for more than just younger children.
She told the Birmingham Mail: “One of the key things we want to say is that in 2024 there will be a new family thrill coaster coming.
“This is going to be one of the best coasters in the UK in my opinion. I think it is important to say we are still doing family thrill and not just kid rides.”
The new ride will appear where the old Apocalypse ride used to sit.
In 2022, Drayton Manor announced that Apocalypse would close for good as part of “significant investment plans”.
At the time, Lynn said: “It’s always been such an honour to have the world’s first-ever stand up drop tower ride right here at Drayton Manor Resort.
“While it’s the end of an era for Apocalypse, we have big plans in the pipeline to expand our offering and make the resort as exciting as possible for our guests.
“We can’t wait to reveal our new developments in due course.”
Those plans include the yet-to-be-named ride that is set to open next year.
Although Lynn acknowledged that some people were sad to see Apocalypse be torn down, she promised that what’s coming next will be better.
She continued: “People are not going to be disappointed once they see what is going in its place but naturally, there was a little bit of disappointment from our fans.”
Drayton Manor is not the only park to announce expansions plans.
Toverland in Sevenum, the Netherlands, has revealed a series of new elements in its medieval-themed Avalon world, as part of the development, for people of all ages.
They include four new attractions: two large and two small, an adventurous water playground, a colourful toddler playground and “special experience elements” that are “full of magic”.
The theme park claims: “In 2023, several new experiences full of adventure, adrenaline and mysticism await you here.
“This area will come to life even more, because not all stories have been told about this mysterious area yet.”
Meanwhile, a new £3.6million adventure park has opened in the Cotswolds with zip wires and secret chambers.
And a new £250m waterpark is going to be built in the UK.
