The tiny spot is just a small brick hut at Newton’s Cove, a secluded spot in Weymouth, Dorset.

They are a bargain compared to ice cream in other areas, costing just £3 – the same price as a small tub.

And tourists are just as sold by the ice creams.

Holidaymaker Neil Barker, 46, from Sheffield, said spotted someone else eating the giant Mr Whippy at the harbour which piqued his interest.

Neil said: “It is very clever how he does it because you think the ice cream would just collapse, but he achieves it in stages.

“I saw someone at the harbour eating one and could not believe the size of it.

“It is the biggest Mr Whippy I’ve ever seen, twice a normal one.

“Everyone around here who walks past is buying them.”

He added that they aren’t to be eaten when it’s super hot, saying “it would have melted before I got to finish it”.

Emma Langston, a retail worker from Weymouth, said she had seen the ‘enormous’ ice creams on social media.

She bought Mr Whippys’ for her and her 16-year-old son Henry, who found eating his a challenge.

She said: “My son is holding his ice cream at a 90 degree angle to eat it! They are enormous.

“I had seen the ice creams on Facebook but this place is a hidden gem.

“They must be Britain’s biggest Mr Whippys’ – it’s a race against time to eat them.”

Mr Whippy was founded in 1958 by British businessman, Dominic Facchino, who was of Italian descent.

He brought them back to the UK after spotting “Mr Softee” ice cream trucks in the US.

The franchise started in Birmingham with six vans, before being bought by Unilever in 1966.

The ice creams aren’t the only reason to visit Weymouth – as it was voted one of the best beaches in the UK.

A study by The Times put it number one out of 50 seaside times, rating it highly due to its “litter-free sands, first-class facilities and great chippies”.

Other people said they loved the “wide sandy beach, the lifeguards, [and] the shallow waters that are safe for children.”

You can even rent deck chairs for £2.50 and windbreakers for £3.70.

The Sun found the most expensive Mr Whippy in the country – costing a whopping £5.

And one seaside stall claims to sell the cheapest Mr Whippy in the country, costing 99p.

Here’s the UK beach with the “most ice cream spots ever”.
