PASSENGERS have been amazed by a simple yet nifty trick to get extra comfort during flights.
Not many people know, but there’s a secret button in the plane’s cabin on some seats that can provide extra leg room, while also making it easier for people to stand up.

This can help people stretch out more and makes it easier for them to stand up
Planes are cramped places to be at the best of times, but people often end up being less comfortable than they need to be, simply by not knowing about certain features on board.
One of those is a small button underneath the armrest in the plane’s aisle seats.
The little catch allows the passengers in those chairs to lift the armrest up, providing them with more space to stretch out into.
It also means they can get up out of their seats without squeezing between the seat in front and the armrest.
The button was revealed by flight attendant Charlie Silver (@silvercharlie) who shared the information on Tiktok.
In a video, she showed herself lifting the armrest up and down and revealed how to do it.
She captioned the video: “This video is for people who didn’t know that the aisle seat armrest moves too, its like this on most aircraft types.”
Loads of people were impressed with the tip, saying it was helpful info.
One wrote: “Nah! Needed to see this at the beginning of the year! Why’s it so hidden?”
Another said: “Thanks for this, always try to move it up but couldn’t.”
A third added: “Omg game changer! Flying TUI to Cape Verde next week and I’m aisle seat!”
The armrest button isn’t the only secret switch on board planes, with others found in the cabins for safety reasons.
One of these can be found on the toilet door, with the cabin crew able to unlock it from the outside.
The button is located underneath the metal “lavatory” sign on the toilet door.
Crew will only use this if they have to, in case of an emergency or a health problem.
One wrote on Quora: “It’s not that they will do it unnecessarily, worry not.
“This feature is in place simply as a flight safety precaution.”
Another added: “When I was an FA, we would not open a lavatory door without knocking.”
