The genius phone hack that will make your foreign holiday so much easier this summer

A HOLIDAYMAKER has revealed the genius method she uses to overcome language barriers when she’s abroad.

Foreign languages can sometimes prevent travellers from making the most of their trips, especially in restaurants.

However, there’s a simple smartphone function that can help people work out exactly what’s on the menu, so they can order food, without having to worry about what it is.

Tiktoker and travel expert Lexi (@travel.w.lex) showed how she always gets her orders right when going to restaurants abroad.

In a video, she showed off the Google Translate camera function, which she uses to change the language of any menu she’s looking at.

She said: “Have you ever been staring at a menu or a sign when you’re in a different country and been like, ‘what does this say?

“Well, I had no idea that Google Translate has a camera feature where you can just take a picture of it and see what it says in your language.

“Save this for your next trip. I’ve used it so much.”

The video has been seen more than 19,000 times, with plenty of people thankful for the advice.

One person wrote: “That’s amazing, thanks for this info.”

Another simply said: “Thank you!!”

Lexi isn’t the only traveller to be amazed by the function, with Tiktoker Nguyen, also known as Gnoch Gnoch, also delighted to have stumbled across it.

In the video, she said: “Oh my God guys. My mind has been blown.

“I’m at a restaurant at the moment and they don’t do an English menu and they don’t speak a lot of English either.

“So I was like, ‘It’s fine, I’ll just put it in my Google Translate.’

“I went and downloaded the app for convenience for the rest of the trip and then I saw a little feature.

“Literally, it translates everything within seconds. Like how sick is that?”

Phones are becoming increasingly more useful for travellers, with them able to do more and more.

TikToker Katarina Mogus has revealed how she uses AirTags with an app on her phone.

The app tracks when your suitcase will appear on the conveyor belt at baggage reclaim – or if it’s still at your departure airport, if you’re unlucky.

In the video she says: “You can actually track it and know where your luggage is at all times.”

Meanwhile, another TikToker showed how to track your friends’ flights using a hidden iPhone feature.

And this is how you can create a phone holder to watch films on planes.
