This week is one that will go down in pop culture history.
Remember when John Lennon left The Beatles? Or when Jimi Hendrix performed at Woodstock? Those events might soon pale in comparison to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romantic holiday in Sydney.
Now, I say that with a slight comical glint in my eye, but nobody can argue Swift’s Eras Tour and her love story with the NFL superstar won’t make it into our country’s cultural lore.

There hasn’t been a celebrity event quite like this in decades. Plenty of music fans have groaned at the endless comparisons to Beatlemania, but it’s the only logistical point of reference we have.
Swiftmania is here, and it’s here to stay. Well, at least until her last concert on Monday.
The pop star’s presence in Australia alone is a huge deal. Her billion-dollar grossing Eras Tour has been a wildly-popular sensation across the world and now we are getting a taste of it Down Under.

Couple it with her whirlwind romance with a Super Bowl-winning athlete, it’s a recipe for a media circus.
Kelce touched down in Sydney today ahead of Swift’s first concert in the coastal city, a move Aussie Swift fans have been hoping and praying for.
The superstar power couple have only been together for a matter of months, but they have already reached Posh and Becks’ level of stardom.
Anyone around in the ’90s will remember the world’s obsession with an athlete and pop star’s shock relationship. It’s pop culture history eerily repeating itself.
I am sure a lot of naysayers didn’t think they’d last. But here we are, 27 years and four kids later, and David and Victoria Beckham are still together.
In the early days of Swift and Kelce’s relationship, some critics slammed their romance as a PR stunt. Others said it will be over within weeks.
Now, there’s every chance the hysteria will die down, Taylor’s Eras Tour will draw to a close and the novelty of their romance will fade.

They could very well break up and Swift might be in a new relationship this time next year.
But I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt. Let’s give these two crazy kids a fighting chance to find love. After all, celebrities deserve this too, don’t they?
I, for one, hope that when the curtains close on this wild time in their lives, Swift and Kelce will be able to settle a little and see what life is like without all the media hype. And perhaps they’ll still enjoy being with each-other.

Though, if their trajectory is anything like Posh and Becks, the media and paparazzi will still follow them for years to come. I see joint People magazine covers, cat adoptions and lavish holidays in the future.
We probably won’t see a themed purple wedding coming out of Swift and Kelce’s camp, though. (If only!)
But I think we could see an enduring love story that proves everyone wrong. And makes us all have faith in celebrity love once again.
