Both Texas and Florida are in the crosshairs of Mother Nature on Wednesday as severe weather appears likely in both states. In Texas, the area of highest risk is centered on the Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco areas. In Florida, the risk area covers much of the peninsula and includes places such as Miami and Orlando. Damaging wind and hail are possible with storms in both Texas and Florida, but Texas also faces a risk of tornadoes.
A heat wave in the West is causing the tremendous amounts of snow that fell across the region this winter to rapidly melt, and all that water running off the mountains is leading to worries of flooding. Flood alerts are out for parts of California and Nevada, including Yosemite National Park. Officials said they will close Yosemite Valley in the park Friday night because of flooding that is forecast.
