Just a few days ago, the Kansas City Chiefs went head to head with the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
The Chiefs walked out of the stadium victorious while the 49ers were left to sit on the bench as the gold and red confetti rained down.

And while it was a disappointing loss for the team down on the field, there was one family up in the VIP box also grieving the coveted Lombardi trophy.
The York family are the owners of the San Francisco 49ers, and if they had of won the Super Bowl, their net worth would have jumped by approximately another $46 million.
However, while it was a tough loss against the Chiefs, we’re sure that after once glance at their bank accounts, Denise York and her family weren’t feeling too down anymore.
How much is the York family worth?
The York family is worth approximately $7.7 billion.
According to Forbes, the 49ers were purchased in 1977 for approximately $20 million, and now they’re worth a whopping $9 billion, making them the ninth most valuable franchise in the NFL.
And while $7.7 billion is a comfortable amount, the Yorks have once again been beaten by the Chiefs.
The Hunt family who own the Kansas City team are worth a staggering $38 billion.

How did the York family get rich?
At just 13 years old, a man named Edward DeBartolo Sr. began learning the ropes of business from his stepfather who owned a paving business.
In 1944 he graduated from the University of Notre Dame and served in World War II.
Upon returning, he founded the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation to construct homes for returning veterans.
With the post-war boom in full swing, he took his next step and begun constructing shopping malls.
Business boomed and in 1977, DeBartolo purchased the San Francisco 49ers for $20 million and passed control of the team onto his son, Edward Jr..

He also purchased the National Hockey League team the Pittsburgh Penguins and passed the ownership on to his daughter, Denise Bartolo. The team was later sold in 1991.
By 1982, Edward Sr. had made the first ever Forbes 400 list and was considered to be the largest mall builder in the country, and that same year the 49ers won their first of five super bowls.
1998, the family was involved in a very public scandal when Edward Jr. pleaded guilty to gambling fraud for failing to report a felony when he paid $400,000 to former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards in exchange for a riverboat gambling license.
He was convicted on criminal charges and faced a $1 million fine and two years probation.
In 2020, Edward Jr. was pardoned of his crimes by then-president Donald Trump.
After pleading guilty before being pardoned, Edward Jr. was suspended from the NFL for a year and was able to return to team ownership, however he decided to instead hand ownership on to his sister, Denise.

Denise had married pathologist John York back in 1978, and since the duo were heavily involved with the 49ers, Edward Jr. thought it best to pass the team on to them in 2000.
Denise now owns more than 90 per cent of the team, and her eldest son Jed York runs the daily operations as CEO.
Who are the York kids?
Denise and John York share 4 children together, and while they handed the title of CEO of the 49ers down to their eldest son, Jed York, in 2008, they have retained their position as majority owners and act as co-chairmen.
Jed followed in his grandfather’s footsteps, attending Notre Dame University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Finance.

He has also invested in the Sacramento Republic FC in 2015, and the English soccer club Leeds United in 2018.
The couples second son Anthony York was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, however in 2018 he passed away at 35 years old as a result of suicide.
There’s not much public information on the two youngest siblings, Jenna and Mara York, however they are listed as the co-owners of the philanthropic arm of the San Francisco 49ers, The 49ers Foundation.
