The best hotel in the world is just two hours from the UK – where A-list guests collect their own eggs for breakfast

THE best hotel in the world has been revealed – and it’s only two hours from the UK.

Passalacqua, built within an 18th-century villa, is found on the edge of Lake Como in Italy.

It was named the best hotel in the world at The World’s Best 50 Hotels Awards last night.

There are just 24 rooms inside Passalacqua, with the hotel saying it is more like a “private home”.

This includes the twelve-room Villa, the eight-room Palazz and the four-room Casa al Lago, with the latter being right by the lake.

Along with a private pool overlooking the lake, it also has direct access to the beach along with a private pier where you can rent boats with Beppe the boatman.

Guests are encouraged to visit the onsite garden to pick their own herbs and fruit, as well as collect eggs next to the nearby bocce court.

Expect classic Italian cuisine throughout the day, with “maritozzo” sweet buns for breakfast, picnic hampers or snacks at the pool bar, or classic pasta and risotto for dinner.

While at the hotel, there is a spa with both a sauna and steam bath for guests.

Daily activities include gelato-making, cooking lessons and flower arranging as well as outdoor yoga and even an outdoor cinema.

The hotel has also attracted some famous A-listers too.

Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend recently stayed at the hotel after renewing their wedding vows to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

And Logan Paul recently proposed to his girlfriend Nina Agdal at the resort.

But going further back, the estate once welcomed both Napoleon Bonaparte and Winston Churchill.

You’ll need to start saving – rooms start from £785 a night during low season, although it does include breakfast.

It usually only closes from early January to early March, although is set to close for three months later this year.

The resort is shutting down from November 12 until March 15, 2024 due to the building of a new indoor pool.

In the meantime, we’ve revealed how to do a holiday at Lake Como much more affordable.

This includes a stay at the Hilton Lake Como which starts from £49.75pp.

Lake Como is popular with other celebs too.

George Clooney has his own house there, while Villa del Balbianello was used in both Casino Royale and Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones.

If you want an even cheaper option, here’s a European lake resort that’s just as beautiful but more affordbale.
