WITH the cost of living increasing, the average daily hotel rates are expected to be 35 per cent per night higher next year, than they were in 2019.
This has made it more important than ever to identify those times of the year when you can get a little more for your money.

When to travel for £150 or less
According to data from Hotels.com, now is the best time to plan a budget-friendly winter break, with the average daily rate falling in January, with 13 and 16 January 2023 coming in at £136, being the cheapest nights to book a winter hotel stay.
Melanie Fish, spokesperson for Hotels.com said: “Travel demand hit an all-time high this summer and never really slowed down, meaning people searching for off-season deals had to do some extra digging to find those price drops.
“What’s great about this latest intel is that we’ve zeroed in on exactly when to travel for some of the best rates.”
Hotels.com analysed average hotel rates across the entire year, to pinpoint the best and the most expensive times of the year to travel.
Surprisingly, in 2022 it wasn’t summer that housed the most expensive average daily rates – it is the nights in-between Christmas and New Year’s Eve will cost Brits a pretty penny.
Rates between 26 -31 December 2022 see the six most expensive nights of the whole year, which hit a high of £196.
This is significantly higher than how 2022 started, with 10th January having the cheapest nights of the whole year at £106.
For those who like to plan ahead, the lowest average rate for the whole of 2023 falls in next year’s winter, with 17 December 2023 coming in at £92.
However, you will need to plan to travel well ahead of Christmas, as 23 December, 2023 has the highest average rate of the entire year at £441, even though it falls only six days after the cheapest date.
